Men's Soccer Opens Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament Against NJIT

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team will travel to Farmville, Virginia on Friday, November 14 to participate in the Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament. The Panthers earned the top seed in the tournament by posting a perfect 4-0 regular season conference mark and capturing the regular season title.

Adelphi will open play againt fourth seeded NJIT, who dispatched fifth seed Howard on Wednesday, November 12, 3-1. The Panthers are 6-0 all-time against NJIT, including a 2-0 home win over the Highlanders on October 18.

On the season Adelphi is 11-5 overall, the Panthers highest win total since the 2006 season when they posted a mark of 11-7-1 and earned a bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament. That season Adelphi was also ASC regular season and tournament champions.

Adelphi has outscored it's opponents 30-16 this season and out shot them 13.8-9.8. In addition the Panthers have a clear advantage in corner kicks, 114-48 and have posted six shut outs this season, five courtesy of Thorne Holder, who has an 11-1 record in goal for Adelphi.

If the Panthers win their semifinal match-up they will face the winner of #2 Houston Baptist and #3 Longwood on Sunday, November 16 at noon. Adelphi is 2-2-1 all-time against Longwood and topped Houston Baptist, 2-0 in the first ever meeting between the schools this fall.
