Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team will travel to Farmville, Virginia on Friday, November 13 to participate in the Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament. The Panthers earned the top seed in the tournament by posting a 2-1-1 regular season conference mark and capturing the regular season title for the second season in a row. Adelphi will open play against the winner of the play in game, which will occur on Thursday, November 12 as #5 NJIT takes on #4 Howard at 3:00 pm. The Pantahers are 8-0 all-time against NJIT, including a 3-1 win this season in Newark and also have a winning record against Howard, 8-5-1. On the season Adelphi is 10-2-4 overall, just one win away from their victory total during the regular season last year. The last time that the Panthers posted back-to-back seasons with double figure wins was 1991 and 1992. So far this fall, Adelphi has outscored their opponents, 28-13, including 17-9 in the second half. The Panthers have also out shot the competition, 216-182 and taken more corner kicks, 65-57. With a win in their 3:00 pm semifinal match-up Adelphi would advance to face the winner of #2 Longwood and #3 Houston Baptist in the championship game at noon on Sunday, November 15. |
