Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University junior Val Charalambous and sophomore Thorne Holder each earned Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) weekly honors as announced by the conference office on October 20. Charalambous was named Player of the Week while Holder was honored as Goalie of the Week, this is the third honor in a row for Holder and the second overall for Charalambous. Charalambous, a native of Larnaka, Cyprus, posted two assists last week as the Panthers extended its winning streak to nine games. On the first assist recorded by Charalambous last week, he sent the ball into Columbia's box where teammate Kris Nosworthy collected the ball and beat Columbia's goalkeeper. Against NJIT, Charalambous sent a cross across the box to Stephen Fregosi, as he added the second tally of the game for the Panthers. Holder, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, picks up his fifth honor of the season. He improved his overall record to a perfect 9-0 with back-to-back wins over Columbia and conference opponent NJIT. Holder has posted a shut out in six of his first nine matches in net as has yet to lose a start. Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, October 21 when they take on Syracuse in Syracuse, New York at 7:00 pm. |
