Garden City, N.Y. - On Wednesday, October 8, the Adelphi University men's soccer team will host the Garden City Centennial Soccer Club as part of it intercollegiate contest vs. Princeton University at 7:30 p.m. on Competition Field at the Outdoor Sports Complex.

"We are very excited to host the Garden City Centennials," said Head Coach Carlo Acquista. "In addition to bringing the community together they will experience soccer at a very high level. I hope the youth of this great game will enjoy and remember this night."

This is the first such joint effort between Adelphi men's soccer and the Centennials. The purpose is to foster better relationships within the community. The Under-10 boys and girls team will be invited to the field during the national anthem and will host scrimmage at half-time of the game.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our local community to experience collegiate soccer at its highest level," said Garden City Centennials President Rick Harken.

The game is free and open to the public. The first 100 individuals or families to arrive will receive a free copy of the 2008 Adelphi University Men's Soccer Media Guide.

The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club was founded in 1969. The Club was organized to provide the youth of the community with a positive experience through playing the sport. The Club's registration, which exceeds 1700 just for the youth programs, has grown each year to the point that they are now the largest independent youth recreational activity organization in the history of Garden City.
