Aug. 9, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University junior Patrick Figueiredo (Compinas, Brazil) has been selected as a candidate for the 2007 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy as announced on August 8, 2007 by the Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.). The last Adelphi Panther to be honored as a member of the watch list was Gary Sullivan in 2003. In 2006 Figueiredo, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Atlantic Region first-team selection, appeared in 16 games and led the Panthers in goals scored with six. He was also a member of the 2006 Atlantic Soccer Conference All-tournament team and a first-team All-ASC selection. Players are selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List by a committee of Division I coaches who are NSCAA members. In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early December in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup and will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, January 11, 2008. The winner of the 2007 award will be announced during a nationally televised news conference that evening. |
