Adelphi Soccer Earns Academic Honors

The Adelphi University men and women's soccer programs each earned Academic Team Honors as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA). This is the second consecutive year that both teams share this honor.

This is the tenth straight year that Head Coach Bob Montgomery's Panther squad has earned this academic honor. This season's team boasted a combined 3.07 grade point average. Adelphi finished the 2002 season 5-12-1 overall.

Head Coach Rich Ilsley led his team not only to its first NCAA bid since 1997, but its second straight NSCAA academic recognition. The Panthers (17-2-2) won their second NYCAC title in as many years and advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen. Adelphi, won has earned this honor in six of the last seven years, shared a 3.30 grade point average.

In all, 67 men's and 213 women's programs earned the award by achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher as a team during the 2001-02 academic year.
