Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University senior forward was among the 44 players named to the NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-America team. A second-team selection, Figueiredo, a biology major, boasting a grade point average of 3.73, was one of 22 Division I players honored. Figueiredo is the 2007 and 2008 Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year as well as a 2008 CoSIDA Academic All-American. He is also a three-time first-team all-conference selection and an NSCAA all-region selection in 2006 in addition to being ranked among the top-15 in the country in two statistical categories. Figueiredo is eighth in the nation in goals per game (0.83) and 14th in points per game (1.72). The last Panther to earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors was Oliver Skelding in 2006, he was a honorable mention selection. Overall Figueiredo is the 10th Adelphi men's soccer player to earn Scholar All-Region honors and the first in program history to receive Scholar All-American status. The Scholar All-America selections are invited to be recognized at the annual All-America luncheon, to be held in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, January 17 as part of the 2009 NSCAA Convention. |
