Orange, NJ - The Adelphi Univesity men's soccer team traveled to Orange, New Jersey on Wednesday, October 17 to take on Seton Hall. Adelphi and Seton Hall played a scoreless first half before the Pirates broke through and scored four goals in the second frame. The loss drops Adelphi to 2-9-2 overall, while Seton Hall improves to 7-6. After a scoreless first half, Seton Hall was awarded a direct free kick in the 58th minute, which found the top left corner of the net, giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead. Less than 10 Dritan Sela took control of a deflected pass and beat Panther keeper Vincent Treglia to put Seton Hall ahead 2-0. The lead was extended to 3-0 when Christian Vercollone headed in a rebound in the 79th minute, while a centering pass in the 83rd minute gave Seton Hall a one-on-one opportunity, which was converted, giving the Pirates a 4-0 win. Seton Hall keeper Paul McHenry picked up his second shutout of the season, stopping nine Adelphi shots, while Treglia had five saves for the Panthers. Adelphi outshot SHU 19-16 for the game, including an 11-9 edge in attempts on goal. The Panthers return to action on Sunday, October 21 when they take on Howard at 4:00 pm in Washington, DC. |
