Philadelphia, PA - The Adelphi University men's soccer team traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 4 to celebrate Homecoming away from home. The Panthers scored twice in the second half to pick up their fifth victory in a row. With the win Adelphi improves to 5-4 overall, while LaSalle falls to 1-6-3.

Kemalie Preston struck first for the Panthers, netting a goal at the 55:38 mark. Preston took a ground pass from teammate Alexander Kouznetsov and rocketed the ball into the far left corner of the net, giving Adelhpi a 1-0 edge.

The Panthers added an insurance goal 12 minutes later when Patrick Figueiredo took a feed from John Koutsounadis at the top left corner of the box and found the right side of the net.

Neither team generated much offense in the first half. but Adelphi held a slight 4-3 shot advantage at the halfway mark and finished with a 13-8 advantage. Corner kicks also hurt the Explorers, with the Panthers taking seven kicks to the Explorers' two.

Senior Brian Barry led the Explorers with three shots, all on goal. Daniel Heavey and Colin Whalen also attemped two apiece, but the Explorers could not solve Adelphi goaltender Thorne Holder.

Andrew Bernhard made five saves in net for LaSalle, while Holder collected five stops as well.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, October 8 when they place host to Princeton at 7:30 pm.
