Brooklyn, N.Y. - Adelphi University freshman John Koutsounadis gave Adelphi a 2-1 lead in the 43rd minute, but the Panthers could not pull out the win, playing St. Francis to a 2-2 tie. With the tie Adelphi is still searching for their first win of the season at 0-6-2 overall, while St. Francis sits at 2-4-3 on the season.

The Terriers grabbed a 1-0 advantage as freshman forward John Sallhag found the back of the Panther net just 7:41 into the match. Nick Baum sent a through ball from the 40-yard line to a streaking Sallhag, who split two Panther defenders, and beat Adelphi keeper Vincent Treglia from 15-yards, giving St. Francis a 1-0 edge.

Adelphi sophomore midfielder Val Charalambous evened the score at the 14:25 mark as he was able take advantage of a St. Francis defensive miscue inside the box. The Terriers were unable to clear a bouncing ball and Charalambous managed to direct his shot into the lower left corner of net from seven yards out, knotting the game at one.

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead as freshman John Koutsounadis beat a charging Terrier keeper Chris Antonino from 15-yards out into the lower left corner in the 43rd minute. Charalambous initiated the play with a well-placed service from the midfield.

St. Francis sophomore defender Javier Gonzalez tied the game at 2-2 as he headed home a free kick off the foot of Sallhag in the 55th minute. Gonzalez made a clean run towards the net and was able to direct the ball just inside the near post.

Terrier midfielder Edson DaSilva had a golden opportunity to win the game with 6:10 remaining in regulation, but Treglia (5 saves) made a spectacular diving save to his right on DaSilva's 15 yard shot from the right side.

Koutsounadis had a great chance for Adelphi with 2:55 remaining in the first overtime, but the forward lofted a shot over an open net from 15 yards out.

Antonino made three saves for the Terriers, who outshot Adelphi 14-10.

Adelphi returns to action on September 29, when they play host to Atlantic Soccer Conference rival Longwood at 7:00 pm in Queens, New York.
