Queens, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's soccer team hosted Towson University on Sunday afternoon at Belson Stadium in Queens, New York. Junior Patrick Figueiredo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) gave Adelphi the lead in the 59th minute, but the Panthers could not pull out the win, playing to a 1-1 tie. The tie gives Adelphi an 0-5-1 record, while Towson sits at 2-2-1 overall.

The game remained scoreless into halftime as niether team could find the back of the net in the first period of action. Adelphi took control early in the second half and found the back of the net when Figueiredo slipped behind the Tiger defense and beat Billy Chiles, scoring Adelphi's first goal in four games and giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Adelphi continued to apply pressure but Towson turned the tide late in the second half. With less then two minutes remaining the Tigers were pressuring the Panther goal when a deflected shot ended up at the feet of Pat Healey. Healey struck a ball that found the back of the Adelphi net, knotting the game at one, which is how it would end.

The Panthers return to action on September 22 when they travel to Fairfield, Connecticut for a 7:00 pm meeting with Fairfield University.
