June 23, 2006 New York, NY - Senior attacker Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia), a finance major at Adelphi University, and senior midfielder Matt Miller (Mastic, NY), a childhood education major at New York Institute of Technology, have been named the 2006 NYCAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as voted by the league's coaches. Green has maintained a 3.348 grade point average, while Miller has earned a 3.61 grade point average in addition to their impressive athletic accomplishments. This season, Green was named a USILA First-Team All-American and participated in the USILA North-South game. He was selected the NYCAC Player of the Year, named to the All-NYCAC First-Team, was a Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, and prior to the season was an Inside Lacrosse Magazine First-Team Preseason All-American. The Adelphi University senior scored 62 goals and recorded 17 assists in 13 games while leading the conference in points (79). Miller finished out his senior season third on the NYIT squad in points (25) and assists (9) after making the switch from defensive midfielder to offensive midfielder this year. He scored 16 goals in 10 games this season and received First-Team All-NYCAC honors. Miller also received national recognition, as he was named a USILA/STX First-Team All-American. "Excelling in academics and in athletics is characteristic of many NYCAC Student-Athletes," said Ed Manetta, NYCAC Commissioner. "Green and Miller have shown great ability and versatility on the field and have had tremendous success in the classroom as well." A number of NYCAC Men's Lacrosse student-athletes demonstrated excellence in class and on the field during the 2006 season. The 2006 NYCAC Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll includes: Ryan Campbell, Dowling College, sophomore; Joe LaBella, Molloy College, senior; Tim Paulson, C.W. Post, senior; and Ted Winslow, Mercyhurst College, senior. |
