Men's Basketball Top Defensive Squad in Division II

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team finished the 2005-06 basketball season as the top ranked team in Division II in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. This is the second consecutive season that the Panthers have been tops in the nation defensively.

The Panthers led the nation in scoring defense, holding opponents to just 54.7 points per game. Runner-up Henderson State allowed 57.1 points per contest. Adelphi also held the opposition to a nation low 35.8 percent shooting from the field, edging out runner-up Clayton State (37.1 percent).

Adelphi will open their 2006-07 campaign on November 15 as part of the ECC-Northeast-10 Challenge. The Panthers will host Bentley College at 7:00 pm in Woodruff Hall.
