March 5, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Seniors Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned All-East Coast Conference (ECC) honors as announced by the conference office and voted on by the league's coaches. Queens College senior guard Bradd Wierzbicki was selected as East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while New Haven forward Cassius Chaney was chosen as Rookie of the Year and New York Institute of Technology coach Sal Lagano was voted ECC Coach of the Year. Mosby was a first-team selection after averaging 14.6 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. Mosby also led the ECC in field goal percentage, making 59.4 percent of his attempts. Blaize led the Panthers in scoring, averaging 15.8 points per game, steals (55) and was second on the team in assists per game (2.6). He also led the team in made three-point field goals with 74 and was a second-team selection. The Panthers captured a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament after winning their second straight ECC tournament title and will take on #3 Bryant on March 10 at 12:00 pm in Waltham, Massachusetts. |
