Byrd Named East Coast Conference Rookie of The Week

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University men's basketball player Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, January 21. This is the first time this season that Byrd has been honored by the conference.

Byrd averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. In just 16 minutes against Dowling he picked up 13 points and five rebounds. Byrd added 17 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and a block in a 67-60 win at Bridgeport.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, January23 when they travel to Brookville, New York for a 7:30 pm meeting with C.W. Post.
