Garden City, N.Y. - Catch Adelphi University sophomore guard Richard Byrd on Sportslife NYC on the YES Network this Friday, January 9. The story is scheduled to air at 11:30 p.m. following the New Jersey Nets post-game show.

In December, Byrd was featured in a Long Island Newsday piece chronicling the challenges of losing his brother at a young age and stepping up to help raise his young nephew, Elijah.

The 2007-08 ECC Rookie of the Year and an ECC Player of the Week this season, Byrd currently leads the Panthers in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (5.8). In addition to his stellar play on the court, he is a solid student who finds time to participate in community service events with his team and work a part-time job on campus.
