Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi placed four players in double-figures, led by Thomas McCormack (Breezy Point, N.Y.) who scored a game-high 15 points, to out last Southampton 71-57. With the win the Panthers improve to 13-11 overall and 11-10 in the conference, while Southampton falls to 6-19 overall and 6-16 in NYCAC play.

Both teams got off to a sluggish start, with Adelphi claiming a 12-8 lead at the 15:01 mark on consecutive buckets by freshman Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). The Colonials responded with a 7-0 run to take a 15-12 edge with 9:19 on the clock. Tafare Berryman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored three of Southampton seven points during the run.

Adelphi answered right back, going on a 20-3 run over the next seven minutes to take a 32-18 lead with 2:03 remaining in the first half. Eric Martin (Laurelton, N.Y.) accounted for seven of Adelphi's 20 points during the run. The Panthers carried a 35-23 edge in to the locker room.

The Colonials cut the Panther lead to seven with 14:55 on the clock in the second half, but Adelphi responded with a 6-0 run to stretch their lead back out to 13 points, 47-34. Adelphi's lead did not slip under 10 points the rest of the way as the Panthers cruised to a 71-57 victory.

McCormack had a strong all-around game pouring in 15 points, handing out five assists and grabbing four rebounds. Mosby continued his strong play, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Martin and Samuel Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored in double figures, chipping in 11 and 10 points respectively.

Joaquin Smits (Manhattan, N.Y.) and Berryman both scored 15 points for Southampton. While teammate Jye Watson (Warnambool, Australia) scored 13 points. Wayne Inniss (Hollis, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high six rebounds for Southampton.

Adelphi returns to action Saturday, February 21st when they travel to Sparkill, N.Y. to take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 pm.
