Myers Named ECC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of The Year

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior pitcher Michael Myers (Wantagh, NY), a business management major at Adelphi University, has been named the 2007 East Coast Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as voted by the league's coaches. Myers maintained a 3.54 grade point average in addition to an impressive athletic resume.

Myers was a First Team All-ECC selection this spring and was named conference Pitcher of the Year as he posted a perfect 10-0 record with a 2.90 earned run average. His outstanding play helped Adelphi to the East Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles and a berth in the NCAA Division II National Champion Tournament. Myers was named to several All-Region teams and was selected as the NCBWA Northeast Region Pitcher of the Year.

A number of ECC baseball student-athletes demonstrated excellence in class and on the field during the 2007 season. The ECC 2007 Baseball Honor Roll includes: Ryan Aiken, University of New Haven, senior; Brian Chenicek, C.W. Post, junior; Marek Desek, University of Bridgeport, senior; John Mazzello, St. Thomas Aquinas College, junior; Joe Mercado, Mercy College, senior; Kevin Reese, Dowling College, junior; and Patrick Walsh, Molloy College, sophomore.
