Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Head Baseball Coach Dom Scala has announced three co-captains for the upcoming 2010 season. Senior pitcher Mike Bartlett, junior pitcher Keith Couch, senior third baseman Chris Weidlein and senior pitcher Mike Scudero will lead the 2010 squad.

"All of these players have worked hard on and off the field throughout their careers and they have been key players for the past several years," Scala explained. "They will lead us on our quest to get to the College World Series in 2010."

Bartlett posted a record of 5-2 during the 2009 season with an ERA of 2.53, striking out 39 in 64 innings pitched. Couch, a 2009 ECC all-conference pick and an all-region selection, led the Panthers with a record of 9-2 and an ERA of just 1.31, striking out a team-high 75 batters in 89.1 innings of work.

Weidlein, a third-team all-conference selection in 2009, hit .265 with 22 RBI, 14 runs scored and 41 hit, while slugging .361 and posting an on base percentage of .328. Scudero missed the 2009 season due to injury, but was an all-conference honoree in 2008 after appearing in 10 games, throwing 48.2 innings and striking out 50, with an ERA of 2.40.

Adelphi closed out the 2009 season in the NCAA Division II East Regional final, after capturing the East Coast Conference regular season and tournament crown.
