Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University baseball team played host to Briarcliffe College on Tuesday, April 22 on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. The Panthers held Briarcliffe to just two hits, while scoring 10 runs in a 10-0 victory. With the win Adelphi improves to 18-20 overall. After holding Briarcliffe scoreless in the first, Adelphi scored three runs on four hits. The Panthers opened the inning with two straight hits and Rob Paccione followed that up with a single to left that scored Matt Kenney. A Ryan Boelsen single up the middle brought both Thomas Harper and Paccione across the plate, making the score 3-0. Adelphi stroked two hits in the second inning, scoring four runs, including a two run double by Paccione and a Chris Weidlein home run to left center. Adelphi's four runs essentially put the game out of reach. Oren Rasowsky threw five innings allowing just one hit and striking out two to collect the win. John Arciuolo, Frank Valeriano, Dave Salemi and Jake Potters each tossed one inning of scoreless relief to help secure the win. Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, April 23 when they play host to C.W. Post at 3:30 pm on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. |
