Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Panthers took control of game one with their bats, out hitting Molloy, 17-6, in an 11-2 win and out pitched the Lions in game two, 3-2. The sweep raises Adelphi's record to 19-9 overall and 12-2 in the East Coast Conference, while Molloy falls to 13-19 overall and 5-9 in conference play. Game One Bobby Lanigan picked up the win, striking out nine and allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work. Mike Mongiello and Teddy Rohrs teamed up to pitch three innings of scoreless relief. The Panthers scored two runs in the first inning and added a third in the top of the fourth, but Molloy pulled within a run, 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth. However, Adelphi exploded for eight runs in the last three innings to put the game away. Game Two Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, April 15 when they play host to Molloy at noon. |
