The Adelphi baseball team took on rival C.W. Post on Wednesday in a single game clash that began at three o'clock at C.W Post. The panthers took an early lead as freshman Thomas Cali stroked his first ever-collegiate homerun 375 feet away to the opposite field. In the bottom of the first, Mike Thompson took to the mound for the Panthers. For the Panthers, it was the same old same old as the Panthers committed another nine errors in the game. Thompson only let up three earned runs throughout the six innings of work he had before Junior Andrew Tinucci came in in the fifth to get some work in. Russ Rapp greeted him when Russ belted his second home run in the game. Tinucci exited in the seventh for Chris Zinkiewicz, who pitched a marvelous game against Mercy on Saturday, but the game was lost on errors again. Zink pitched a one two three inning, but an error by the second baseman Rob Entenmann prolonged the inning for another batter, but Zink got Greg Annino who had five RBI in the game to fly out to end the inning. In the eighth inning, Ken Gates came in to get some work in and retired 4 of 5 batters that he had faced. Offensively, the Panthers in the sixth started to comeback to the 13-1 lead that post had by scoring four runs on a trio of singles by Ricky Nicholson, Doug Anderson, and the offensive star of the day, DH Thomas Cali. The Panthers are currently working on a northern stand record of 4-10, 1-7 in the NYCAC. The Panthers return to action on Saturday against archrival Molloy at home.
