Augusta, GA - The Adelphi baseball team struggled in their last game in Georgia against Augusta State on March 2. The Panthers committed three errors, posted one run on six hits and gave up 13 runs on 16 hits. The 13-1 loss keeps the Panthers winless as they drop to 0-4 while the Jaguars move to 12-9. Augusta got out to a quick start in the first inning against right-handed pitcher Mike Bartlett, putting up three runs on four hits. While the Panthers remained scoreless through five innings, Augusta tacked on another three runs, scoring two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. The Panthers managed to get on the board with a home run by junior Robert Paccione in the top of the sixth, which proved to be their only run scored in the game. Augusta continued their offense with five more runs in the sixth off two home runs while their pitching held Adelphi to just six hits. Paccione had a solid day at the plate going 2-3 and driving in Adelphi's only run on a solo home run while teammate Pat O'Neil went 1-1 with a single. Adelphi returns to action on March 4 as they take on Dominican (NY) in their home opener at the new William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. |
