Oct. 16, 2006 Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi men and women's cross-country teams traveled to Albany, New York to compete in the 40th annual Albany Invitational on Saturday, October 14. The men scored 393 points to place 14th out of 27 teams, while the women placed 16th our of 22 teams with a score of 524 points. Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) and Danielle Connor (Lake Grove, N.Y.) paced the women's team, placing 84th and 89th overall. Anene covered the 5K course in 19:46, followed closely by Connor in 19:50. Lindsay LaFluer (Holbrook, N.Y.) was the third Adelphi runner across the line, placing 132nd overall in a collegiate best of 20:50. Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Heather Troutman (Whiteford, MD) also set collegiate bests, posting times of 21:11 and 21:14 to place 141st and 143rd, respectively. Jaime Julia-Perez (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) led the men's team with top-60 finishes. Julia-Perez placed 35th overall, covering the 8K course in 25:53, while Dispensa captured 59th overall, clocking in at a collegiate best 26:18. Sean Harte (Queens Village, N.Y.) and Carlos Techera (Bayside, N.Y.) were the next two Adelphi harriers across the line, placing 106th and 110th overall in personal bests of 27:20 and 27:23. Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) rounded out Adelphi's top-five with a personal best time of 27:41 to place 121st overall. The Panthers return to action on Sunday, October 22 when they travel to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York to compete in the East Coast Conference Championship meet. |
