Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University junior Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) was named East Coast Conference women's Runner of the Week, while freshman Ryan Pezzulo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) was named men's Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference on September 17. This is the first honor for both runners this season.

Anene captured the NYU Invitational individual title, covering the 5K course at Van Cortlandt Park in new personal best of 19:11. The victory, is the first for an Adelphi individual since the ECC Championship meet in 2002, which was won by Stephanie Henderson. Anene's finish in the 209 runner field helped the women to a fifth place finish out of 22 teams.

Pezzulo placed 25th overall at the NYU Invitational in the 238 runner field, covering the five mile course in 27:24 in just his second collegiate race. Pezzulo's time was a new personal best and helped the Panthers to a fifth place finish out of 23 competing teams.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 22 when they travel to Waterford, Connecticut to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational.
