April 17, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Jaime Julia-Perez (Amsterdam, N.Y.) will be the first Adelphi University athlete to represent the Panthers as an individual at PENN Relays in at least 15 years. Julia-Perez will compete at 10:40 pm on Thursday, April 26 in the 10,000-meter run. A year ago 42 of the best athletes from the eastern United States competed in the college men's 10,000 championship. The field included athletes and All-Americans from Division I, II and III and NAIA. Julia-Perez is continuing his strong senior season, after earning United States Track and Field/Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-Region honors at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional, he went on to capture an IC4A Individual title. Julia-Perez also placed second at the East Coast Conference (ECC) championship meet, earning first-team all-conference honors for the second season in a row. During the track season, Julia-Perez placed first in the 5,000-meter run at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) relay carnival and most recently placed first in the 5,000-meter run at the George Davis Invitational. In addition to Julia-Perez, Adelphi will compete in the men and women's 4x400 meter relay at PENN Relays. The women will compete on April 26, while the men will take the track on April 27. |
