Garden City, N.Y. - Matt Dispensa (College Point, NY), a junior business administration major, has been named the 2006 East Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete, as voted by the league's coaches. Dispensa maintains a 3.52 grade point average plus finished third as an individual at the 2006 ECC Cross Country Championship.

Dispensa helped lead the Panthers to a Co-East Coast Conference Title in 2006, and placed 23rd at the NCAA Division II Regional with a time of 32:56. Adelphi finished in fourth place in the team standings at the 2006 NCAA Northeast Regional. Matt posted six top-50 finishes during the 2006 season, and he turned in a personal best 8k time of 26:18 at the Albany Invitational on October 14, 2006.

"Excelling in academics and in athletics is characteristic of many ECC Student-Athletes," said Ed Manetta, ECC Commissioner. "Dispensa is an excellent example of these characteristics, demonstrating dedication in both the classroom and in every race. He is truly a worthy recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award for men's cross country."
