Colchester, VT - The Adelphi University cross-country squad traveled to St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont to compete in the NE-10 championships, on Sunday, October 25. Both Panther teams took fourth on the technical and flat course, and had four runners named to the Northeast-10 all-conference team. The overall team titles on both sides went to Stonehill College. The men were paced by junior Ryan Pezzulo, who placed 17th overall. Next across the line was freshman Andrew Coelho, in 19th. Junior Adam Clark and senior Carlos Techera were third and fourth for the Panthers, running to 23rd and 27th, respectively. Rounding out the top-five was sophomore Angel Ortega in 33rd place. The women were paced by freshman Gina Christaldi, who was the panthers only first-team all-conference performer, placing seventh overall in 19:07 for the 5K course. The Panthers' next finisher crossed the line in 16th, earning all-conference honors, while junior Catherine Connors was the harriers third finisher, turning in a 26th place finish. Rounding out the top-five were freshman Cassie Papandrew and senior Jenilee Fuertes, who placed 42nd and 47th, respectively. Stonehill College won both the mens' and womens' team titles and were followed in both races by UMass-Lowell, Southern Connecticut State University and Adelphi University. The men's individual champion was freshman Glarius Rop from American International College, and the women's championship was taken by senior Laura Brustolon from Southern Connecticut State University. The Panthers toe the line next on November 8th at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championship in Boston, Massachusetts at Franklin Park. |
