Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's and women's cross-country teams traveled to Albany to compete in the Albany Invitational on October 16th. The men placed 26th overall, while the women took home 17th place. Junior Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) led the men's team for the third time this season. Marzano covered the eight kilometer course in a time of 28:22 to place 129th overall. Freshmen Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.), Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.), Mike Dorman (Albertson, N.Y.) and Wayne Wilson (Hempstead, N.Y.) rounded out Adelphi's top five. Warner clocked in at 29:14 to finish 149th, Dispensa placed 161st in a time of 29:53. Dorman stopped the clock at 30:25, placing 167th overall, while Wilson came through the line in 32:20 in his collegiate debut to place 179th. The women were led by senior Katie DiPietro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), who placed 75th overall in a time of 20:13. Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Diane Buonpane (Holbrook, N.Y.) finished just seconds apart in 103rd and 104th. Coelho clocked in at 21:36, while Buonpane stopped the clock at 21:38. Meghan Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) was Adelphi's fourth finisher in a time of 22:18, to place 115th. Nadine Rossi (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) rounded out the top five for the Panthers, placing 125th in a time of 23:10. Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, October 24th when they travel to Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the NYCAC Championships. |
