Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi University cross-country team travled to Albany, New York on Saturday, October 13 to compete in the 41st annual Albany Invitational. The men placed 13th overall in a field of 26 teams, while the women took home 15th out of 29 schools. Senior Matt Dispensa led the men, placing 16th overall with a time of 25:44. He was followed across the line by freshman Ryan Pezzulo, who placed 40th, stopping the clock at 26:22. Junior Carlos Techera and freshman Adam Clark placed 79th and 81st with times of 27:08 and 27:09, while freshman Tom Eickelberg was 27:26, good enough for 95th overall. Junior Ify Anene led the women's team, posting a time of 18:33, placing 27th overall, while senior Melissa Coelho stopped the clock at 19:31, to place 79th. Senior Danielle Connor and freshman Barbara Green were the next two Panthers across the line, placing 20:02 and 20:11 to finish 101st and 108th, while sophomore Jenilee Fuertes was 117th in a time of 20:21. The women also placed a team in the open race, placing fifth in a field of 10 teams, led by graduate student Jennifer Malenovsky in 18th place (20:16). The junior class dominated the rest of Adelphi's top-five as Margaret Penner, Kristin Eberhardt, Courtney Bender and Brittany Waldman were the next four Panthers across the line. Penner placed 23 (20:37), Eberhardt was 29th (21:10), Bender finished 39th (21:46) and Waldman placed 43rd (22:09). Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, October 21 when they travel to Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the East Coast Conference Championship Meet. |
