Cross Country Places 11th at MIT Harrier Classic

Boston, Mass. - The Adelphi University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the second annual MIT Harrier Classic. The men finished 11th overall despite missing their fourth runner, the women ran well but did not count in the final results due to a late arrival.

For the second week in a row Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) led the Panther men, finishing 38th in a time of 29:08.8. Will Marshall (Laurelton, N.Y.) also ran well, placing 47th in the 107 man field with a time of 29:42.6. Mike Dorman continues to run strong for Adelphi, improving his time from a week ago by more then a minute. Dorman finished 75th with a clocking of 31:41.2. Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) and Joe Accardo (Westbury, N.Y.) round out the top five for the men, Warner finished 82nd with a time of 32:54.2, while Accardo claimed 99th with a time of 36:58.

On the women's side Katie DiPietro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) continues her strong senior season, running her fastest time of the year, 20:42. Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Meghan Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) finished in 22:50 and 22:52 respectively. Diane Buonpane (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Nadine Rossi (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) round out the top five for the women. Buonpane crossed the line in 23:03 and Rossi was just four seconds back in 23:07.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 2nd when they travel to Salisbury, Maryland to compete in the Tidewater Fall Classic.
