Both Panther Men and Women Place 15th at NYU Invitational

Bronx, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's and women's cross country team traveled to the Bronx this past Saturday to run in the New York University Invitational which was run at historic Van Cortlandt Park. Both teams ran well, the men placed 15th out of 28 schools, while the women competed against 22 other schools and placed 15th.

For the second week in a row the men were led my Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) and Will Marshall (Laurelton, N.Y.). Marzano placed 60th overall in a time of 29:13 while Marshall stopped the clock at 29:22 to place 65th overall. Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) continued his strong freshman campaign improving his time from a week ago by over a minute. Warner placed 97th overall in a time of 30:20. Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) was Adelphi's fourth runner, finishing in a time of 32:04 and fellow freshman Mike Dorman rounded out the top five for the Panthers, placing 160th overall in a time of 32:43 in his collegiate debut.

Katie DiPietro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) continued her strong running placing 29th out of 240 competitors in a time of 21:04. Adelphi's freshmen contingent also ran well on Saturday with Melissa Coehlo (Wantagh, N.Y.), Jen Mayo (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Meghan Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) finishing as Adelphi's second, third and fourth runners. Coehlo led the pack finishing 101st in a time of 22:55 followed by Mayo, who placed 125th in a clocking of 23:35. Farrell was Adelphi's fourth runner finishing in a time of 23:56, good enough for 137th place. Junior Nadine Rossi rounded out the top five for Adelphi, placing 138th in a time of 23:58.

The Panthers travel to Boston, Massachusetts on September 25th to compete in the MIT Harrier Classic.
