Cross-Country Produces Top-Five Finishes at NYU Invitational

Bronx, N.Y. - The Adelphi men and women's cross-country team traveled to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York on Saturday, September 16 to compete in the New York University Invitational. The women scored 169 points to place third overall in a field of 28 teams, while the men took home fifth overall out of 35 competing teams.

Danielle Connor (Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) led the way for the second week in a row, placing eighth and 14th overall. Connor covered the 5K course in 19:57.8, while Anene crossed the line in 20:23.8. Carissa DeMelfi (Shirley, N.Y.) was the next Adelphi runner to finish, placing 32nd in a time of 21:15.9.Lindsay LaFluer (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the top-five for Adelphi, placing 61st (22:00.8) and 63rd (22:02) respectively.

Jaime Julia-Perez (Amsterdam, N.Y.) paced the men, placing sixth overall in a time of 27:10, followed by Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) in 37th (28:41). Mike Dorman (Albertson, N.Y.) and Sean Harte (Queens Village, N.Y.) were the next two Adelphi harriers to stop the clock, placing 50th (29:05) and 52nd (29:09.5). Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) completed the scoring for the Panthers, stopping the clock at 29:39.5 to capture 75th place.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 23 when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Codfish Bowl.
