Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Track and Field team announced the second annual Mini-Golf Outing fundraiser to be held on Saturday, October 3 at Eisenhower Park at 2:00pm. All proceeds will go toward the spring training trip to Orlando, Florida in March 2010. The trip is one week long and culminates with the Walt Disney World Invitational at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

This year, the team extends the invitation to everyone who participated last year as well as friends, family, alumni and the Adelphi community. "Last year's outing was a huge success" said Katie DiPietro, assistant XC/Head Women's track coach. "We far surpassed our goal and we look to do even better this year!

Like last year, the 2009 outing will feature a round of 18 holes of mini golf, food and drink, the opportunity to meet and talk with the team, coaching staff, family and friends. There will also be great raffle prizes as well as a give-away for each person who attends.

This is a major part of the teams' fundraising efforts and it was a large part of why they were able to take a spring training trip last year down to Myrtle Beach. "The spring training trip is very important to the season," head coach Adam Siepiola stated. "It allows us to get away from cold weather and put in quality training in a warmer climate. It's a great way to kick-start the outdoor season.

This year, the team is looking for partners to sponsor the event. Sponsor opportunities are available for the event title, individual holes, food and drink as well as raffles. We expect our friends at the Sayville Running Company and the Lynbrook Runner's Stop to participate and show their support as they generously did last year.
