May 7, 2007 Kings Point, N.Y. - The Adelphi University track and field team traveled to Kings Point, New York to compete in the East Coast Conference (ECC) outdoor championships. The Panthers captured a combined eight ECC titles and earned 35 all-conference certificates, while both the men and the women placed third overall. The men earned four individual conference titles and one relay title. Senior Jaime Julia-Perez was the men's only double winner, claiming conference crowns in both the 3000-meter run (8:41.49) and the 5000-meter run (15:48.51). Junior Aaron Warner captured his first ECC title in the 800 meters by blowing the field away by more then four seconds, crossing the line in a personal best of 1:56.32. Sophomore Daryl Lewis defended his indoor shot put title, picking up the outdoor championship with a toss of 13.64 meters, besting second by over a full meter. The men's 4x400 meter relay team also captured first place, clocking 3:30.43. Junior Morgan Russell paced the women's team, claiming conference titles in the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best of 15.53 and taking home a 400-meter hurdle crown in a time of 1:12.84. Senior Carissa Demelfi capped her collegiate career off with an ECC title in the mile, crossing the line at 5:32.93. The Panthers will return to action on Friday, May 11 when they take part in the IC4A and ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton University. All-ECC Men Conference Champions in bold |
