Princeton, NJ - Adelphi University sophomore Lindsay Lafleur (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed 45th in the 5,000-meter run at the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, April 6, setting a new school record, crossing the line in 18:38.43. The Panthers also set several personal bests and posted multiple season best marks. On Friday night, LaFleur eclipsed the previous 5,000-meter school record, held by Adelphi assistant coach Katie DiPietro, by three seconds when she clocked 18:38.43. Teammate Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) also set a personal best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:11.05, while Danielle Connor (Lake Grove, N.Y.) stopped the clock in 39:59.23 to set a new personal best in the 10,000-meter run. Jaime Julia-Perez (Amsterdam, N.Y.) also topped his previous best in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 15:16.98. Adelphi also ran well on Saturday with Sean Harte (Queens Village, N.Y.) opening the meet with a personal best in the 1500-meter run of 4:12.75. The Adelphi men's 4x400 meter relay of Sean Murphy (Lynbrook, N.Y.), Brian Chaback (Oceanside, N.Y.), Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) and Mark Pollard (Deer Park, N.Y.) posted a season best time of 3:28.91, missing out on second by less then a second to Bucknell (3:27.15). The women's 4x400 meter relay team also set a season best with a time of 4:27.80 as Morgan Russell (Baldwin, N.Y.), Heather Troutman (Whiteford, MD), Carissa Demelfi (Shirley, N.Y.) and Liz DiRico (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took home ninth. The Panthers return to the track on Saturday, April 14 when they take part in the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell. |
