Track and Field Set Two School Records on First Day of IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships

Boston, MA - The Adelphi University Track and Field team traveled to Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 8 to compete in the IC4A and ECAC Indoor Championship meets. The Panthers set school records in the women's 1000 meter run and in the men's 4x800 relay in day one competition.

Danielle Lyons concluded her first indoor season with a record breaking performance. Competing in the women's 1000 meter run at the ECAC Championship meet, Lyons placed 16th out of 27 individuals with a school record time of 2:56.61. Lyons was the lone non-division I competitor in the race.

Obed Bienne, Sean Harte, Ryan Pezzulo and Aaron Warner teamed up to shatter the existing school record of 8:00.06 in the 4x800 meter run at the IC4A Championship meet. The Panthers placed 15th out of 25 competing teams with a new school record time of 7:46.96. Bienne led off with a 1:56.21, followed by Sean Harte (1:58.08), Ryan Pezzulo (1:56.44) and Aaron Warner, who anchored the relay with a 1:56.06.

"I'm extremely proud of the way that the athletes carried themselves against Division I competition and of the outstanding results that they produced," Head Coach Adam Siepiola said. "All of the athletes worked hard this winter and it definitely showed on the track and in their results today."

Adelphi closes out the indoor season on Sunday, March 9 when they take part in the ECAC Championship meet in Boston, Massachusetts.
