March 1, 2004 South Orange, N.J. - The Adelphi track and field team closed out the indoor season at Seton Hall where they competed in the Seton Hall last chance meet. The Panthers turned in some solid performances, first place in the distance medley relay and second and third place in the men's mile. Adelphi's Jenine Kostyra (Lynbrook, N.Y.) qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash with a time of 9.25, she finished eighth in the finals. Diane Buonpane (Holbrook, N.Y.) also ran strong, finishing second overall in the women's mile with a time of 5:57.94 and finishing fourth in her heat of the 800 meter run in 2:41.58. On the men's side John Loehr (Selden, N.Y.) finished second in the men's mile (4:36.99) and teammate Ryan Soltan (Sayville, N.Y.) was close behind in third (4:41.84). The men closed out the meet by winning the distance medley relay in a time of 11:04.69, the team of Loehr, Soltan, Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) and Joe Cahill (Kingston, N.Y.) finished over 30 seconds ahead of second place finisher Ramapo. The Panthers open their outdoor season on March 12th when they travel to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Disney Relays. Campaign |
