Women's Track Places Second at CTC Indoor Championship Meet, Men Take Home Fourth

New Haven, CT - The Adelphi University track and field team traveled to New Haven, Connecticut on February 9 and 10 to compete in the Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championship meet. The women captured four conference titles, placing second in the 20-team field, while the men placed fourth out of 19 teams and earned one conference title. This is the highest finish for both teams in at least the past decade.

Danielle Lyons led the way with two individual conference titles. Lyons captured the 1000 meter title in a time of 3:00.83 and then came back and won the 800 meter title, crossing the line in 2:20.18. Ify Anene was also crowned a conference champion, placing second in the 3000 meter run by almost 30 seconds, stopping the clock at 10:38.72.

Heather Troutman, Margaret Penner, Jenilee Fuertes and Elise Maniguet teamed to capture the 4x800 meter relay title in a time of 10:14.22. Danielle Connor turned in a second place performance in the 5000 meter run in a personal best of 19:25.58, while Morgan Russell, Claudine Petit, Catherine Connors and Tarryn Rivera picked up second place in the 4x400 meter relay (4:19.10).

The men captured their only conference title in the 4x800 meter relay as Obed Bienne, Sean Harte, Ryan Pezzulo and Aaron Warner out kicked DeSales University to pick up the win in 8:02.48. Matt Dispensa and Daryl Lewis picked up third place finishes as Dispensa placed third in the 3000 meter run (8:55.14) and Lewis finished third in the shot put (13.90 meters).

Adelphi returns to action on Friday, February 29 when they participate in the NYU Fastrack Invitational at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
