Men; Women Finish Fourth At NYCAC Indoor Track Championships

 
 

 
The inaugural NYCAC Indoor Championships took place at the famed 168th Armory.

New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi men and women's track teams each finished fourth at the first-ever NYCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships held Sunday morning at the 168th St. Armory. The men tied with St. Thomas Aquinas with 12 points, while the women finished with 31 points.

NYIT won overall for the men with 168 points, followed by C.W. Post with 125 points. New Haven rounded out the top three with 90 points. C.W. Post's women captured the first team title with 153 points. NYIT was second with 131 points and New Haven finished third with 88 points.

The Adelphi women got off to a good start, finishing second in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR), with the team of Diane Buonpane, Katie DiPietro, Sharon King and Katie McGrath in a time of 13:53.71. DiPietro also notched a total 10 points individual points, finishing second in the mile run in a time of 5:25.92 and fifth in the 800 meters in 2:28.72. McGrath added another eight points, crossing the line second in the 5000 meters in 21:23.76. Heather Ratana picked up five points after placing fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (11.33) and sixth in the 400 meters (1:06.57).

For the men, Mike Marzano was the top individual finisher, taking fourth in the 800 meters in 2:02.52. John Loehr was fifth in the mile run in 4:41.98. The DMR, consisting of Ryan Soltan, Joseph Cahill, Brian Agostin and Loehr, finished third in a time of 11:23.53.
