Kutztown, PA - The Adelphi men's and women's track and field team traveled to Kutztown University on January 14th to take part in the Kutztown Invitational. The men had a strong showing, recording seven top-five finishes, while Katie DiPietro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) was the only women to place in the top-five, with a third place finish in the mile in a time of 5:34.31. On the men's side, Mark Pollard placed second in the 300 meter dash (38.23) in his first competition as a Panther. Teammate Sean Murphy (Lynbrook, N.Y.) placed fifth in the same event in a time of 38.91 seconds. Adelphi also placed two runners in the top-five in the 800 meter run, junior Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) placed third (2:00.32), while freshman Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) took home fifth (2:05.05). Junior Will Marshall (Laurelton, N.Y.) crossed the line in 4:38.73 to place fourth overall in the mile. Freshman Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) stopped the clock at 9:32.82 in the 3,000 meter run to drop his personal best by almost 18 seconds and claim fourth overall. Marshall, Marzano, Warner and senior Ryan Soltan (Sayville, N.Y.) combined to place second overall in the distance medley relay in a time of 11:05.18, getting edged out by .02 seconds. Adelphi returns to action on January 28th when they travel to the Armory to compete in their first MAC meet of the season. |
