New Haven, CT - The Adelphi University track and field team traveled to New Haven, Connecticut on Saturday, January 13 to compete in the Yale Collegiate Track Classic. The men posted seven top-20 finishes and two top-10 finishes, while the women took home eight top-20 finishes and one top-10. Mark Pollard (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Daryl Lewis (Oakdale, NJ) collected Adelphi's two top-10 finishes. Pollard placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 6.39 meters, while Lewis took home seventh in the shot put with a heave of 13.9 meters. Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) posted two personal bests, clocking 4:39.06 in the mile (17th) and 9:14. 36 in the 3000-meter run (15th). Mike Dorman (Albertson, N.Y.) also posted a personal best in the 3000-meter run, stopping the clock at 9:34.08, placing 21st overall. The women's lone top-10 was turned in by Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH), who placed 10th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:12.02. Teammates Lindsay LaFluer (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Danielle Connor (Lake Grove, N.Y.) also ran well, placing 14th (11:24.82) and 15th (11:35.39) respectively in the 3000-meter run. In addition, Melissa Coelho (Wantagh, N.Y.) placed 14th in the mile, clocking 5:52.05. The Panthers return to action on Saturday, January 20 when they travel to Kingston, Rhode Island to compete in the Sorlein Invitation hosted by the University of Rhode Island. |
