New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi University track team posted a strong opening to the 2003 season with first place finishes for the women in both the 4x800 meter relay and the distance medley relay at the MAC Relay Carnival held at the 168th St. Armory on Friday night.

The 4x800 meter team of Katie DiPietro, Stephanie Henderson, Katie McGrath and Diane Buonpane took first in a time of 10:47.0. DiPietro, Henderson and Buonpane also teamed up with Sharon King for a first place finish in the distance medley relay, crossing the line in 13:35.0.

The men also finished strong, taking second in the 4x800 relay with the team of Mike Marzano, John Loehr, Benjamin Gooch and Joseph Cahill in a time of 8.20:07.

Adelphi returns to action next Sunday, competing in the NYCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the 168th St. Armory. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Admission is $5.00.
