Wayne, NJ - Diving proved to get the best of the Panthers as both squads lose in the duel competition against William Paterson University. The Panthers donation of 32 points on each side via the one and three meter dives was too much for the mermen and merwomen to overcome as the men lost 123-103 and the women 124-99. The women's meet began with the Pioneers getting out front with a win in the 200 free, however the Panthers would be quick to answer with a one three effort in the 1000 free by Kelly Mark (11:49.06) and Jennifer Scarnati (12:44.95) respectfully. Two events later Brittany Ferencik would add to the Panthers team points with a 2:24.25 win in the 200 IM. One event later Ferencik would find herself back in the pool and a second place finish in the 200 fly (2:35.69). Charlotte Davies continued her event win streak with a 5:33.91 finish in the 500 free. This marks Davis' third duel meet in a row with a event win. Ferencik would later pick up her second win of the competition in the 200 breast (2:48.87) and the Panthers ended their meet with a first place, 1:52.94 effort in the 200 free by Davis, Bove, Kimberly DeVivo and Scarnati, put it was not enough to overcome the diving deficit. The mermen were led off by Thomas Eickelberg, who picked up the Panthers first win in the 1000 free in 10:40.42. Zachary Terzano was the Panthers next event winner, swimming 2:03.18 to touch first in 200 IM. Cory Mckee was also an event winner for the Panthers in the 200 fly in 2:01.68. Tory Cozzi won the next event, the 500 free, for the Brown and Gold in 5:11.63. Steven Gromling continued the mermen's wins with a 2:29.59 effort in the 200 breast. The team of Tory Cozzi, Michael Litvinoff, Corey McKee and Zachary Terzano won the 200 free relay in 1:30.91 for 11 points but it wasn't enough to catch the Pioneers. Swimming returns to action when the Men take the pool on January 15, to duel against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. First start is at 6:00 p.m. |
