Mahwah, NJ - Men and Women's Swimming traveled to Mahwah, New Jersey to compete against the Roadrunners of Ramapo College in a duel meet. Both squads were able to pick up a win over the Roadrunners, as the Men won 104-90, and the women followed with 101-92 win. The Panthers combined for nine individual event wins and four relays. The women opened up their competition with a 4:31.14 win in the 400 Medley relay swam by Nicole Mulligan, Jacquelyn Birkel, Brittany Ferencik, and Sarah Bove. Charlotte Davies entered the pool next for the Panthers, and pick up the women's first individual event win in the 1000 free in 11:16.37. Birkel followed with a 2:14.96 second place showing in the 200 free. In event nine, the 200 IM, Ferencik returned for second win of the day in 2:29.18. Kelly Mark added four points to the women's effort with a 1:13.27 second place in the 100 fly. Bove also picked up a second in the 100 free, touching the wall in 1:01.27. The Merwomen missed the first spot in the 100 back, however, they were able to take second-fourth by Mulligan, Jaclyn Sciarrotto and Jennifer Scarnati respectfully for nine points. Davis added to her win collection with a 5:34.14 effort in the 500 free - 28 seconds faster than second place. The Panthers ended their run against the Roadrunners with a first place finish in the 400 free relay swam by Sciarrotto, Mark, Mulligan and Davis. The Mermen began their competition with a win in the 400 medley relay, swimming 3:45.48 with the team of Zachary Terzano, Steven Gromling, Thomas Eickelberg and Torri Cozzi. Daniel Sparnroft reached the wall almost a minute before the second place finisher when he swam 11:08.68 in the 1000 free. Eickelberg followed with a 1:53.74 first place finish in the 200 free, and in event 12, the 100 fly he picked up a second. Cozzi was able to reach first in the 100 free in 50.53 and Terzano continued with a win in the 100 back in 54.74. Sparnroft added another individual win to his collection when he swam 5:21.94 in the 500 free. Gromling also was an event winner, swimming 1:04.37 in the 100 breast. The Panthers concluded their meet with with a win in the 400 free relay in 3:29.87. Swimming will return to action when they travel to the Bronx, New York to face Lehman College. First start is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. |
