Garden City, N.Y. - The men's and women's swim team's hosted Montclair State University on Tuesday, November 22. Despite getting six first place finishes the men fell to Montclair 59-35, while the women produced five first place finishes, falling 54-41. With the losses both teams fall to 2-1 on the season. Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) again led the women's team with two individual wins. Lester took home first in both the 200 yard individual medley (2:20.84) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:21.86). The women also took first place honors in the 400 yard freestyle and the 400 yard medley relays. Both Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Benjamin Dellagiovanna (Forest Hills, N.Y.) captured two first place finishes each. Jordan claimed first in the 50 yard freestyle (22.28) and the 100 yard freestyle (50.43), while Dellagiovanna took home first in the 200 yard freestlye (1:53.99) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:03.71). Brendan Berry (Bellerose, N.Y.) and Timmy Mueller (Merrick, N.Y.) also took home first place honors. Berry finished first in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:42.96, while Mueller stopped the clock at 2:18.58 to place first in the 200 yard butterfly. The Panthers return to action on Saturday, December 10 when they play host to William Paterson at 1:00 pm. |
