Glassboro, New Jersey - The Adelphi men's and women's swim teams traveled to Glassboro, New Jersey to compete in the Rowan Cup Races held at Rowan University. The men and the women continued their strong swimming at the PM session, collecting a combined three first place finishes and 14 top-five finishes. Sophomore Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) collected the only first place finish for the Panther women, placing first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.29. Lester also picked up a fifth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:44.02). Kathy Dodd (Albany, Georgia) picked up a fourth place finish in the 400 yard individual medley (5:13.27), while teammate Amanda Knapp (Utica, N.Y.) collected fourth in the 200 yard butterfly (2L35.78). The men were again led by Charles Castillo (Uniondale, N.Y.). Castillo picked up two more first place finishes in the 400 yard individual medley (4:35.37) and the 1000 yard freestyle (10:57.07). Arnold Brulhardt (Woodside, N.Y.) and Joe Cornacchioli (Hauppauge, N.Y.) finished right behind Castillo in the 1000 yard freestyle, Brulhardt claimed second with a time of 11:01.97, while Cornacchioli placed third in 11:19.8. Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) also swam well, picking up first in the 100 yard freestyle (49.76) and second in the 200 yard backstroke (2:06.1). Brendan Berry also had a solid showing in the 200 yard butterfly, placing third in a time of 2:20.42. Adelphi returns to action on December 11th when they travel to Wayne, New Jersey to take on William Paterson at 1:00 pm. |
