Glassboro, NJ - The men's and women's swim teams traveled to Glassboro, New Jersey to compete in the Rowan Cup on Saturday, November 19. The Panthers posted some impressive results, taking eight combined first place finishes and 27 top-fives. Junior Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led the men's team with two individual wins. Jordan took home first in the 50 yard freestyle with a clocking of 21.93, and placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.64. Sophomore Charlie Castillo (Wantagh, N.Y.) also placed first in two events, the 200 yard breaststroke (2:21.53) and the 100yard breaststroke (1:04.12). Benjamin Dellagiovanna (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and Brendan Berry (Bellerose, N.Y.) also collected first place finishes. Dellagiovanna placed first in the 100 yard backstroke (57.21), while Berry stopped the clock at 10:39.99 to claim first in the 1,000 yard freestyle. Junior Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) collected the only first place finish for the women's team. Lester finished nearly three seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the 100 yard backstroke to pick-up first in a time of 1:02.72. The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, November 22 when they play host to Montclair State at 5:30 pm in Woodruff Hall. |
