Swimming Knocked Off By Montclair State

Montclair, NJ - The Adelphi men's and women's swim teams traveled to Montclair, New Jersey on November 16th to compete against Montclair State University. The men fell to Montclair by a count of 111-86 to even their dual meet record at 2-2. The women also swam into trouble, falling 115-89 to fall to 2-3 on the season in dual meets.

On the men's side the Panthers won three individual events and both relays that were contested but could not compete with the Red Hawks depth. Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) won the 50 yard freestyle for Adelphi, while Charles Castillo (Uniondale, N.Y.) continued his strong swimming, winning two individual events. Castillo took home wins in the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard breaststroke.

The women captured six individual firsts and one relay win but still fell to Montclair. Kathy Dodd (Albany, GA), Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) and Amanda Knapp (Utica, N.Y.) all won two individual events and helped Adelphi to win one relay apiece. Dodd captured wins in the 200 yard and 500 yard freestyle, Lester took home wins in the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard backstroke and Knapp won both the 200 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard butterfly.

The Panthers return to action on November 20th when they travel to Glassboro, New Jersey to compete at Rowan University.
