Nov. 10, 2009 Bronx, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's and women's swimming team picked up its first dual meet victory of the season yesterday over Lehman College. The women won convincingly, 122-67, while the men came away with the 128-101 win. For the women, sophomore Charlotte Davies collected first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:32.18), the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.41), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.67). Freshman Samantha Spacone won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.66, as well the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.76. Also earning first-place finishes for the Panthers was senior Jaclyn Dodenhoff in the 200-yard backstroke (2:32.39) and senior Jacquelyn Birkel in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:49.13). On the men's side, junior Zachary Terzano took home first-place in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:50.49) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.43). Senior Brad Meaney, with a time of 2:11.07, won the 200-yard IM, as well as a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.78). Freshman Karim Harris won the 50-yard freestyle (24.54), sophomore Corey McKee won the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.30), junior Tory Cozzi won the 100-yard freestyle (51.46), and sophomore Daniel Sparnroft won the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.59). The Panthers return to action on Saturday, November 21 when they travel to Kings Point, New York to compete in the Kings Point Invitational starting at 11:00 am. |
